My primary goals are to understand the steps in the flow of genetic information from the genome to the phenotype of organisms. This includes understanding the sequence-structure dependencies and the structure-function dependencies of macromolecules. Specifically we would like to predict structural features of DNA, RNA and protein from sequences and first principles. In fact we spend much of our time learning the first principles. Given the structure and function of a series of proteins in a cell, we have also simulated the metabolism of the organism.
